October 3, 2020, 9 AM to 12 Noon
The Rev. Emily Schwenker, a Presbyterian minister who is a gifted Spiritual Director, will lead a Saturday morning retreat on zoom for our Presbytery on October 3, 9:00 a.m. to Noon. She is a gifted teacher who serves on the adjunct faculty of the Shalem Institute’s Spiritual Guidance Program in Washington (one of the top spiritual direction training centers in the USA) and also has served as adjunct faculty at Lancaster Theological Seminary for many years.
These are challenging times with the pandemic, social isolation, economic hardships, civil turmoil and harsh political divisiveness. We hope and pray this retreat will be a blessing to us all as we go back to some of the foundational ways that Christians have been helped using spiritual practices like prayer, reading the Bible, meditation and other ways that have a proven track record down through the centuries
Emily Schwenker is ordained in the Presbyterian Church (USA) to the Validated Specialized Ministry of Spiritual Direction. While Emily’s primary ministry is offering one-on-one and group spiritual guidance to clergy, seminarians and lay persons in the greater Delaware Valley and across the country, just recently, Emily retired from serving as the Transitional Pastor for Pastoral Care at Red Clay Creek Presbyterian Church in Wilmington, DE. Following her passion for spiritual formation, Emily leads retreats and small groups, as well as consults with individuals and congregations on matters of spiritual growth and discernment. She comes highly recommended; one church invited her to come back three times to lead retreats for them.
Please plan to join us with others from your church on Saturday morning, October 3, on zoom.
