(scroll down past this notice to see the Agenda and papers)

To the Church Commissioners, Council Elders and Committee Chairs, Commissioned Lay Pastors, and Minister Members of Presbytery:

On Saturday Sept. 19 the Presbytery of Susquehanna Valley will be hosted by the Binghamton United Presbyterian Church; website:,  phone  607-722-4219.  The church address is 42 Chenango Street in downtown Binghamton, about one block from the courthouse.  Note that Google was incorrectly locating the church at the former West Presbyterian Church across the river, so beware online directions to 'United Presbyterian Church'.

Childcare is available at the church for this meeting.  Please call 722-4219 if you have a child who will be needing care.

Registration begins at 8:15 am, with light refreshments and with the meeting convening at 9:00 a.m.  There will be only a small amount of business in the morning (probably Introductions, Sharing of Good News, the Consent Agenda) and Worship - the remainder of the morning will consist of a workshop.  Erin Cox-Holmes will lead us in a workshop on “The Coming Church.” She serves as the Executive Presbyter of the Presbytery of Donegal (Synod of the Trinity, in Pennsylvania), and has a deep well of experience and passion for equipping leadership.
Whether or not you are a Ruling Elder Commissioner at this Presbytery meeting; whether you have been in your congregation for decades or only for months; whether you have a vision for where Christ is calling the Presbyterian Church in the future, or only have questions: you are invited.   Join us for a time to discuss the challenges facing our congregationsfinancial, spiritual, demographic, culturaland the hopes that the Spirit is speaking for our present time.

The offering will be divided between the immigration/Syrian refugee crisis and the Global Peace and Witness Offering.  Make checks to 'United Presbyterian Church.'

Lunch is available for $7.   The menu includes Salad with mixed greens and romaine, and side garnishes, BBQ/Baked Chicken, Zucchini Alfredo,  Blonde and regular Brownies.

In addition to each pastor and lay pastor attending, each church is expected to send a ruling elder commissioner to presbytery assembly.  If the regular ruling elder delegate cannot attend, an alternate should go instead. Please email requests for excused absence to: statedclerk(at)
